The Library holds copies of dissertations, theses and extended essays written by GSA students. These cover an enormous range of subjects and can serve as a useful starting-point for further research. We currently hold:
Undergraduate Historical and Critical Studies dissertations and extended essays back to 1986.
Mackintosh School of Architecture dissertations back to 1972.
Masters and PhD theses from our art, design and architecture students.
Details of these materials can be found on the Library Catalogue, and you can restrict your searches to dissertations and theses using the Collections drop-down list. Additionally, all Mackintosh School of Architecture dissertations and theses are listed by year below.
Dissertations and theses are kept in closed access, and you will have to fill out a dissertation request slip and request them from the Library Service Desk. From the Library Catalogue take a note of the item's shelfmark and staff at the Service Desk will fetch it for you. You may consult up to 4 theses and dissertations at any one time in the Library on a reference only basis - they cannot be borrowed. Please note at busy tmes these items will be collected each hour
