Books for Sculpture

The GSA Library holds a comprehensive selection of books on digital design. The shelfmarks below will help you when browsing our collection. Be careful not to restrict yourself to just this one section of the Library however - there will be books in other sections that will also be of use to you.

New Books Alert Service

We also offer a New Books Alert Service, which will give you notification of all new art and design books as soon as they are added to stock and available to borrow. You can subscribe via email or RSS.

Reading Lists

Most reading list books are housed in our Temporary Reference collection. They are reference only and cannot be borrowed. The GSA Library Catalogue will indicate if an item is in the reading lists collection. You will need to make a note of the shelfmark and take it to the Library Service Desk where a member of staff will fetch it for you.

Dissertations

We hold copies of all Historical and Critical Studies dissertations going back to 1984. All dissertations are indexed in the GSA Library Catalogue. They are reference only and cannot be borrowed - you will need to make a note of the shelfmark and take it to the Library Service Desk where a member of staff will fetch the dissertation for you.

Journals for Sculpture

The Library subscribes to a number of sculpture journals, from Design Journal to Engineering.

Online Resources for Sculpture

We subscribe to a growing number of electronic databases and online resources, which are designed to supplement the hard copy collections in the Library. Our online resources range from bibliographic databases, to image sites and video, and can even be accessed over the Internet from home.

Some of our resources are accessed through Athens accounts, which are available to all GSA staff and students.

Intute Visual Arts, the subject gateway for quality Internet resources has also produced a guide to the best websites and online resources in Visual Arts.

We offer a tailored online induction, which is designed to complement face-to-face inductions with your Academic Liaison Librarian. Use our online induction to remind yourself of the services we offer, or to check up on how you can access them.

Other Libraries

The GSA Library contains one of the UK's best collections of art, design and architecture material. But there will inevitably be times when you will wish to supplement our collections by visiting other libraries.

Depending on your level of study, there are a variety of access arrangements that can gain you access to other libraries in Glasgow and the UK. Click here to discover which schemes you are eligible to join.
